    1. [BK] warning re picture file names (backing up)
    2. J. P. Gilliver (John)
    3. The "Files accompanying a gedcom file." thread reminded me of something I thought I'd share: If you have a file structure like this ...censuses\1871\johnsmit.jpg ...censuses\1861\johnsmit.jpg , i. e. for any reason (the above is I hope obvious) two or more different files with the same name (in different folders/directories, of course): the BK "back up picture files as well" function will only save one of them, unless JS has fixed this and I haven't spotted it. This is because the backup-pictures function backs up all to the same folder, rather than maintaining the folder structure (which could well be impossible, I can see that). Just thought I'd share: if I'd known, I'd have done things differently, but I have too many files as above - and links to them in BK - from before I discovered this. -- J. P. Gilliver. That are for every I receive from friends family , my own camera or whatever. When I shall use a picture to BK, the option are set to mainly put those picture to the folder Picture (just under my database) The pictures can be smaller as they are to be used in book or whatever. Those are only copies. I have my own safety routine to save all pictures on my PC I use the routine in BK to save all data and pictures in BK. Many do put their pictures all over and have different path to pictures in Picture folder for BK. When taking the gedcom, we have now a file that tells where all pictures are located that are mention in the gedcom. If you are going to make a Zip file with the gedcom and pictures, external text files, media files) you have to put them in the ZIP and as you are given away that ZIP you have to make a copy of all files and zip them. You cant move them from the location they have. So a question if John shall make a new folder where to put those copies to zip or have a program that selects copies from all folders and ZIP them to the new ZIP. I do not know if that is easy or not, but the last file from John to tell what files to be attaches to gedcom is a great step forward. And we should all manage to find that files more easy way today than last month. ;) Zipping pictures files don't make them smaller. Best way is to reduce the pictures files that are used in BK. Normally a pictures is as the picture to a passport. -- Otto Jørgensen http://www.bkwin.info/ All email is checked by NORTON

I tried every options listed and none seem to work. Here is what I am experiencing. I'll use a fictitious scenario to illustrate. I am using Windows 7 and IE9. I'll go into as website call Bill's Automobile Dealership. There I list the makes of cars I sell. Under Chevrolet I list Volt, Cruze and Malibu. If, while on the main site I click on Volt a new tab will open but there is no label on it and the screen is blank. I close the tab and go back to the Volt link on the main page. If I RIGHT click on the Volt link a dialog box opens and one of the options listed is "Translate with bing". I can click on it and there's a 50/50 chance the link to the Volt page will open. Then again the link may not open and a message will appear stating that bing is unable to translate this page. I have tried to disable the bing Translator, remove it as the default and even remove it altogether. All to no avail. It is very frustrating because I now am not able to access site that I was readily able to do with XP. This is a new problem for me. I contacted Microsoft to get some information but they were not helpful. Any ideas/suggestions are welcome.
