I would think that it should be easy to access the file structure on the flash drive using "My Computer", create a folder there with an appropriate name, and move the file into it. To Dave Bradshaw Gedcom transfers are not perfect. Gedcom is designed to move most of your data to another program. Not everything will transfer exactly as you want it. When importing a gedcom file, BK sees a Picture file and attaches it as a picture. Not all genealogy programs have the same features a BK so the transfer will not be perfect. I never recommend moving data from BK to BK using Gedcom. Always use File, Backup then File, Restore to move from BK to BK. Hi guys: Maybe I'm just not doing it right and maybe that's the problem. I'm having a problem creating a gedcom . It's being created as follows. Gedcom Export Selected people Decendants of a person (find the person and select them) Copy the selected people now Give the file a name and save it Include sources show details of living people (set to 00 to show all data for everyone) include names of pictures include names of media files export all events OK It creates the ged file and when I pull it back into a test base to view it all the data appears to be there. Only thing is that the picture files and the media files all appear under the picture tab. Should the media still appear under the media tab if things are properly done? Dave Bradshaw
Good Evening All, I have sources that have files &/or pictures included, e.g., birth certificates, marriage licenses, etc. On Group Sheets the image doesn't print out, only the text description. Am I missing something, is there a way to print the image with the group sheet? John Cullom, Westminster, Maryland, USA
I'm want to print Family Group Sheets for persons selected using ToDo list. From List - todo search I select search parameters and include fields for BK number and names and saved the file as group.txt. It is in the same directory as all the other .DT6 files. I then go to Group Sheet report and select the "Show "to do" items" but must be missing something to make it select the group.txt file since it only prints the default family of last person viewed.

Thank you Jim, That explained it brilliantly. I have just downloaded Nero Essentials, but for my BK backups I will stick to flash drives as I did before. I think after going through the process of changing the data file paths through BK from what they were in XP to now with Win 7 I wanted the most secure backup possible to ensure I did not have to go through it again if something else went wrong on my new Win 7 computer. Do yourself a favor and buy a $20 portable USB DVD drive and you'll probably find a free copy of Nero Essentials included. Nero does real CD/DVD burning. BK's backup routine thinks it is writing to a large floppy (remember them;-) drive, so just like floppies it needs to be formatted in advance. Also did you ever try to read a non-MSDOS floppies on your PC? In other words, if you expect to use that backup CD on multiple computers with different operating systems stay away from formatted CD/DVDs. Jim
To Rick Beitler Perhaps I should clarify. You can leave Size blank. Then you can print the book report and tell it you want 2.0 for all pictures. So you should not have to use Size at all or very little. (only use it for unusual pictures that are different for some reason and must be a different size) John Steed > From: brothers_keeper@msn.com > To: bk@rootsweb.com > Date: Thu, 19 Jul 2012 03:05:33 +0000 > Subject: Re: [BK] Picture Tab - Size column > > > To Rick Beitler When printing a Register Book report, where you can set the default size for pictures to 1.2 or whatever you want. > The SIZE column on Edit for pictures is to adjust the default size.
