To Keith D OK, so the witnesses are showing correctly in a database. Then you merge that database with another one, and then some witnesses are missing. So is the witness link missing, or is the actual witness person missing also? Perhaps you can send me a private email with more information or with a zipped backup of the problem database for me to test with. Hello Barry, I would say that the witnesses are an existing family member as they are in the tree. It will not be an un-related person as I have not added witness entries for people not currently in the database as part of the tree. For example the first one dropped is the father of the person involved and the second instance is a sister. Regards Keith
Are the witnesses an existing family member? Or an un-related person? Or is the error of either relationship of witness? Is Type of witness an issue that might produce the error? To Fran L There is not a way currently to show ONLY those people. You can make a list of all people born between those dates, and show a column for the marriage date, and add field 90 for "married people only" and then do a preview of that list and scan for missing dates. I am not sure how large your database is, but if there are only a few hundred people born between those dates, a preview should not take too long to scan over. If you need exact directions of how to do the report, let me know John Steed ________________________________ From: Frances LaChance <singer.35@hotmail.com> Sent: Monday, May 13, 2019 9:30 PM To: bk@rootsweb.com Subject: [BK] Missing information list. To Keith Dorey Thanks for the suggestion. It gets a little complicated, since one event may have several sources. If I listed all the Abbreviations for each of the sources, you may still have to click on each source to see the details for the source. But I will think about it. John Steed ________________________________ From: Keith <keithdorey@hotmail.com> Sent: Monday, May 13, 2019 5:34 PM To: bk@rootsweb.com Subject: [BK] Database Compare Utility Improvement Suggestion Hello all, While working with the database compare utility I have thought that it could be enhanced by having a way to show the sources for a specific item from the 2 databases side-by-side. You could then have a "Copy selected source" to move a source across from one database to the other. At the moment you have to look at the source entries separately and remember what is in the right-hand database to make appropriate changes in the left-hand database. Hello all, While working with the database compare utility I have thought that it could be enhanced by having a way to show the sources for a specific item from the 2 databases side-by-side. You could then have a "Copy selected source" to move a source across from one database to the other. At the moment you have to look at the source entries separately and remember what is in the right-hand database to make appropriate changes in the left-hand database. Regards Keith
Hello all, Using the database compare utility of version 7.3.4 It appears that the utility does not find a difference in the FindAGrave field between the databases, nor does it display the field on the compare screen. Regards Keith
Hello all, Using version 6.6.20 On one database, everything appears to be working OK and there are no problems reported by the Quality check routine. But when the file is merged to the end of another database or all of the records kept, in a database split, it looses the second of the witnesses to some of the marriage events. The database only has witnesses attached to the marriage event. Thinking that a convert to version 7 may solve the problem I tried but the problem still persists in a converted database. I have also tried exporting to a GEDCOM and re-importing to a new database but the problem still exists in the new database. The database originated as a conversion from version 5, if that is relevant. I have no idea when the problem happened but even the oldest backup I have from last year still has the problem. Any ideas on how to fix this? Regards Keith
