    3. To Herma Gumpert Go to Lists, Alphabetical Report. Then on Fields to Include pick only field 86 Then click Preview to see how it will look. It is possible to add more information, such as Notes if you go to Descendant, Register Book report, pick anyone, set what fields or notes you want, then click Save Options, then Closes the Register Book report and go back to Lists, Alphabetical Report because field 86 uses the same events. 3. To Lorna Dorr There is a file called BKOPTION.D7 which is located in your BK DATA folder that holds the number of the last person. When you pick "the person showing last time" are you then picking from the top menu, File, Save and Close. If you go to Edit it will show 394 the first time. Then show someone else like person 123 Then click the Close button to the top right near the other buttons for Add Child, Add Spouse, etc. After you Close using that button, then click Edit and see if it shows 394 or 123 If it is still 394 then you may need to delete the BKOPTION.D7 file which is in your DATA folder. What is the name of your Data folder that shows at the bottom of the main BK screen? 2. Lorna Dorr via
    3. It seems that no matter which option I choose to have showing when I go to the edit screen, it *always* goes to Person 394. I prefer to have "The person which was showing the last time you used edit," but even with that option checked and the person number deleted, it still goes to Person 394 the next time I use BK. Am I missing some other setting? Thanks, *Lorna* ______________________ Lorna Dorr Family History Research Cathedral of All Souls Office Volunteer Asheville, NC Email: [email protected]

    3. I just checked and I get the same error message. In the french.bkw file, there are four three letter abbreviations accepted by the program: env (environ), CIR (circa), AVT (avant) and APR (apres). VERS (four letters) is not one of them. If it works for you, you probably don't have the date checking routine turned on (same screen as the choice of dates). 1. Re: [BK] Generation name vs Generation number
    2. Gilles Paquette via
    3. John, If you use the same report but check the box *Show full information for all children of each ancestor*, instead of referring to the ancestor at a certain generation name (or number), you get the ahnentafel number of the previous uccurence of the ancestor. You just have to look for that person's anhentafel number in the leftmost position in the text above. Would it be possible to use the same method? Gilles Paquette Le 2015-03-01 13:39, John Steed a ecrit : To Gilles Paquette Perhaps I can add an option to label the generations 2nd 3rd etc for that report. John Steed

    1. [BK] Generation name vs Generation number
    2. Gilles Paquette via
    3. Hi, A french user noticed something odd when preparing an Ahnentafel Book. When he asks not to include repeated ancestors, he has to figure out where the ancestor is in the report. On the line of the repeated ancestor, one can read something like *(see same person above in generation 6)*. But generations are indicated as *Parents*, *Grandparents*..., *3rd Great-Grandparents*, *4th Great-Grandparents*, etc. In this case, generation 6 corresponds to the 3rd Great-Grandparents. Unless there is a table of correspondance between these two ways of naming generations, it can be frustrating, mostly for non genealogists, trying to figure out to which generation to go to. This occurs both in French and in English. Thanks. Gilles Paquette

    3. Hi Gilles Paquette, You could go to the opening screen and move to Ancestor, Ahnentafel Book. Then select the starting person then create the book report making sure you check the Show full information for all children of each ancestor. That will produce the effect you are looking for.
