From: jstockham [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, March 04, 2015 3:46 PM To: John Steed and others Subject: Children's list which had been deleted shows up on report We had the wives of an ancestor mixed up. The second wife was shown as the mother of the first 9 children but it was found that she was not - they were born of another woman. I put the children all under the first wife and then deleted the list as shown under the second wife, leaving her with only 2 children who had not been mentioned in the husband's will. It all looked ok, but then I went to print a family group sheet and found that the first 9 children were listed with their mother correctly but then the second wife is shown with her two followed by a double line and then all the first 9 children! They do not show on her page, why would they show on the group sheet and what do I do to get them off of it? Jean in OK

To Léandre Maillet With that many pictures it would be faster to not use the BK backup routine. Are all of the pictures in one folder or just a few folders? It would be faster to use Windows to copy the entire picture folder to a DVD-R or USB flash drive. I can easily backup my all of my data with little time. It’s when I want to add pictures and notes that it creates a time problem. Hi, I’m curious as to a way to back-up large data file with several photos, marriage and death certificats, etc. I have over 600 000 persons with 40 000 .jpegs. It would take app. 4 days to run a backup (baring any computer or other cliches). Is there a way to back-up smaller data files and gradually building it up to the whole set? For example, to run a backup with 20-30000 persons, then adding another 2000, etc. Léandre
To Jeff Stewart It is 6.5 months of age difference, not years. I had to pick some number to indicate a possible problem. If two children were born that close together, it might be an error with your dates. It might also be correct if there was an early birth. If the sibling dates are correct, you can make a file with those two BK numbers and then the program will ignore those two siblings in the future for the Reasonableness report. Press F1 for help. To Jack Ray If you do a File, Backup and turn on the option for pictures, then it will make a file called: BKFileNotFound.TXT in your normal BK data folder. Why was 6.5 years age difference between siblings used? I just found this feature and had to make many corrections to my family tree.
I don't think you can. You have to restore the whole database or nothing. Are versions 7.0 and 6.6 the only versions currently being supported? Dan Patnode
Using 7.0.43 on Win 8 machine. Does BK7 generate an error list during backup? Or during a quality check? I have a mess of un-linked pictures, and could use a report. Jack Ray
How would I go about retrieving the data entries for just one person from a backup? I have just deleted her in error, meaning to delete a wrong spouse. Bill
To Dan Patnode Those are the two versions that I still make changes to. What version do you have? 5.2G I will support BK 5 if you have questions about how to do something, but I am not adding new features to 5.2 John Steed ----- Original Message ----- From: "Daniel B Patnode via" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, March 06, 2015 2:35 PM Subject: [BK] Supported versions > Are versions 7.0 and 6.6 the only versions currently being supported? > > Dan Patnode > Remember - Use the Archives at > http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/search > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in > the subject and the body of the message >

To Bill Webster I think Jim Dell has the best solution. Remember the name of your current database folder. Then pick File, Open database, and create a new empty database folder. Then do a File, Restore of your backup. Then pick File, Open database, and open your normal database folder again. Then pick File, Utilities, Compare two databases. Show the husband on both sides, then click the arrow by the spouse name to move the spouse back into your database. To Charles Dobie I have the program set up to not show a report while you are editing the data. There are a few reasons for this. However, if you pick File, Create RTF file, you can have the report showing in Word while you edit the database. No, just close the preview, then click File, you can do the rtf still. I always do it this way so I can check for sanity before saving.
