To Bill Webster I think he means make HTML files using Other, Group Sheets, select everyone that you want and pick File, Create HTML files. Then those HTML files will have all of the data and can be viewed by any web browser. To Sullivan JV You can use either BK 6.6 or BK 7.1 on the new computer. If you want to use BK 6.6 then on the old computer, run BK 6.6 and pick File, Backup data and also backup the Pictures. Copy to a USB flash drive (thumb drive) On the new computer install BK 6.6 and pick File, Restore data. If you have any trouble getting BK 6.6 to work on the new computer, do this: Right click the BK 6 icon and pick Properties, Compatibility tab, Run as administrator, and click OK. If you prefer to use BK 7.1 it is better to install it on the old computer first, and run it there and pick File, Convert BK 6 to BK 7 and after you convert then do a File, Backup data and on the new computer run BK 7.1 and pick File, Restore data. Good morning Just to say that I am running BK6 quite easily from my desktop with the new Windows 10. I did have some problems but John sorted that out - basically to do with Administrator properties. That's my tuppence worth - excellent programme and still no problems. Ewan Steed
Assume this will work with phones as well: I use Heredis on my Ipad which works fine. Install the app, send an email with the gedcom attached, open the attachement it in your device with Heredis and there it is. Probably means GEDCOM. Why not just use BK's Backup routine on the old machine after you have upgraded to BK7? Just backup to a USB drive and then take it to the new machine and restore. I have been using BK 6.6.11 on a desktop PC running Windows XP. I have recently purchased a new laptop running Windows 10. Is there a way that I can transfer my BK to this new laptop without risking loss of data and/or usability please?
Good afternoon Uploaded Windows 10 and now BK6 does not run despite reloading programme. Message says WBTRV32.dll did not load correctly. Can anybody please help as I did not have an absolutely up to date copy of my data saved (was about 6 months old!). Many thanks. Ewan
John, if I could venture a wished-for embellishment of this option (surnames of ancestors) it would be to have the option of limiting the number of generations. [] It seems from what Christine has said that not everybody _does_ have the problem, but anyway - does Alt-Tab not still work in Windows 10? (Failing that, opening Task Manager - or whatever passes for it under 10 - and using "switch to", but that does sound tedious. But I use Alt-Tab a lot [under XP and 7], to switch back and forth between BK and other things I have open - I rarely use the task bar at all.) -- J. P. Gilliver.
