Loretta, I can't tell you where your BITTINGER's originated from, but I can tell you where mine came from -- Eimsheim, Rhinehessen, Germany. My great grandfather, PHILIPP BITTINGER settled in Elgin, Kane County, Illinois after leaving Germany as a young man. Perhaps a few areas in the US to check out would be Bittinger, Maryland and the state of Pennsylvania seems to be a settling spot as well.
