He married KATHERINE LUCINDA BARTHOLOMEW 20 Mar 1913 in Blanchard, PA, daughter of ENOCH BARTHOLOMEW and IDA LAUBACH. She was born 23 Dec 1893 in Ridgeway, PA, and died 30 Jan 1979 in Williamsport Rehab Center, Williamsport, PA. Notes for CHRISTIE E BITNER: Christie E Bitner, 86, of Harrison st, Beech Creek, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Lock Haven Hospital at noon Monday, 5Mar1979, after becoming ill at home. His wife, Catherine Bartholomew, died 30 Jan of this year (1979). He was born in Beech Creek tnsp on 23Feb1893, a son of the late George and Elizabeth Delong Bitner. He atternded Beech Creek tnsp schools.He and his late wife lived on Harrison st since their marriage in 1913. Last summer the Bitners celebrated their 65th wedding anniversasy. He was employed by General Refractories of Beech Creek for 47 years and for several years at the Pa Dept of Transportation, retiring 21 years ago (1958). He was a member of the Beech Creek United Methodist Church. He was the last survivor of 10 children. Mrs Bitner suffered a stroke at home 2 weeks ago and was admitted to the Lock Haven Hospital. She was born in Ridgeway, PA, 23 Dec 1893, a daughter of the late Enoch and Ida Laubach Bartholomew. She was raised in Mill Hall, PA, and was a 1910 graduate of the Mill Hall High School. On 12 Mar 1913 she and Christie E Bitner, who survives, were married in Blanchard, PA. They have lived on Harrison st since their marriage. Mrs Bitner was a member of theBeech Creek Methodist Church and the Anna Berry Bible Class of the church. She was a menber of, and held numerous offices, in the following organizationes : Beech reek-Blanchard Fire Company aux., American Legion Aux in Beech Creek, American War Mothers in Lock Haven, and Beech Creek Senior Citizens. Mrs Bitner served for many years as judge of election board in Beech Creek Borough. Surviving in addition to her husnband are 5 sons, Sheldon Bitner, Mill Hall RD; Stanley Bitner, Lock Haven RD; Richard Bitner, Beech Creek; Christie Bitner, Howard, and William Bitner, Beech Creek RD. Five daughters :Mrs Norman (Edith) McMurtrie, Bellefonte RD; Dorpthy Rupert, Mill Hall RD; Mrs William (Ila Jean) Hatlaski, Lock Haven; Mrs Robert (Claire) Miller, Beech Creek; and Mrs Reuben (Connie) Rickert, Mill Hall RD; 25 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 1 brother, Norman Bartholomew, Bloomsburg, PA. from the Lock Haven Express, 31Jan1979 Children of CHRISTIE BITNER and KATHERINE BARTHOLOMEW are: i.
