My 3rd great grandfather, Jacob Bitner, was born abt 1816 in PA and died in Franklin Co. 11 May 1884. He married Nancy Hege. My 4th great grandfather was also Jacob Bitner. I believe he was born abt 1793-95 and died in Franklin Co. after 1860 (possibly after 1870--I'm not sure if the Jacob Bitner age 75 on the 1870 Census for Chambersburg is mine--the age matches--he is listed as living with Sarah age 55, and three children ages 22-11). Jacob was born in the 1860 and died about 1945, his spouse Ida Hicklan died about 1946. Both lived and died in Bates Co. Missouri and apparently imigrated from Iowa. We believe that Jacob is some how related to a Joseph Bitner (either brother or cousin)who lived in Iowa. They had 10 children of which only 5 survived past infancy.
