    3. Margaret, I would have a look on the electoral role. They have these at Birkenhead Library going back a long way. I have found a few of "my family" on them. I realise this is o.k if you live nearby and it only lists people who are of Voting age. I have found it to be an added extra in my research.. regards. On his marriage in 1864, John Hawkins, railway guard age 26, gave his address as 62 Grange Lane, Birkenhead. I have been trying, without success, to find 62 Grange Lane in the 1861 Birkenhead census, hoping to find John Hawkins there living with his father Robert Hawkins. I have used the street and surname indexes and have even gone right through Birkenhead looking for 62 Grange Lane, but it appears to be completely missing, together with several other nos. on either side of it. I know from directories that the address existed and that Robert Hawkins was living there from the late 1850's until he died in 1882. If anyone has any bright ideas about finding 62 Grange Lane in the census, or comes across John Hawkins in 1861 or even 1871, I'd love to hear. Many thanks.
