Hi Jane. could you,or anyone else on the list, tell me something about the penny saving bank? In my area i am told the children paid a penny a week at school towards building a villiage hall.I also remember my gran saying you had to pay to go to school,this was at the local church school and it could not have been easy for her to find,(i know she was quite poor.)So was the penny saving bank, money the children paid to attend school,or purely a saving scheme? annabelle@sutton86.fsnet.co.uk
