his citizen ship papers show that he Left Liverpool the 17th. 1898 of march on the vessel Dominion he arrived in the port of Portland . a ship list would help to see if anyone came with him but I don't know how to get it. as far as a census I was going to try and get the 1871 census for tranmere but there were 2 in the lds. site and didn't know which one to get or if I would have to get both and sift ? but then I dont even know if the family was in Tranmere ,chester, or Birkenhead his mothers photo was in taken in Birkenhead ? I think this just might be hopeless : ( I am to far away to eliminate the possibilities to narrow it down. especially with names like ellen, john, william, and edward carter. needle in a haystack thank you for your reply .
