I have finally tracked down my great grandmother's 1871 Birkenhead birth certificate. I want to try to find her family in the 1871 census, but I don't know how. The family is living at 218 Brook Street in 1871. I know that I can obtain the 1871 census through my local FHC and that there is a version that is indexed by street adress, with a total of 5 microfilms. However, when I go to the film numbers, it just tells me which volumes are on which films, not which streets. Obviously, I'm missing a step here. Does anyone know how to find Brook Street in the 1871 census? Or, if someone has access and could do an 1871 census lookup, I would greatly appreciate it.
