Hello Ray Do you mean OLD Chester Road, or NEW Chester Road, or Chester STREET? I cannot remember a Chester Road in Birkenhead, other than those above. Chester Street, I think was occupied by the gasworks, and so had big gasometers. These could look like ponds on a map I should think. The Rover Mersey was very close to all of these roads. Oops - I have just had a thought - I think Hind Street was the gasworks. Chester Street still exists today and is near to Hamilton Square. Looking at Autoroute, it is the present A41 running from Woodside Ferry (across the Mersey) Terminal towards Chester, and seems to disappear into New Chester Road itself.
