Liverpool Mercury July 11 1834 ASSAULTS AT WALLASEY At the Cheshire Quarter Session, held at Knutsford, Thomas DAVIES, Richard JONES, William BLOT and Luke BARNES were indicted for a riot at Wallasey and an assault on the person of Arthur KERR. After attempting to extort money from him by threatening to "burke" him, for which purpose a bag was procured, they savagely struck and kicked him until he became insensible There was some evidence for the defence which contradicted the testimony of the prosecutor, and a fter a short consultation the jury aquitted the defendants At the same sessions Stanley MARSHALL, a boy not more than 16 yrs of age, was indicted for assaulting, Elizabeth WILLIAMS, a girl about 14 yrs of age, at New Brighton on the 26th May last, found guilty and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment Caryl
