Kathy, Thank you for your reply. I have a great deal of information on these people but I had not found the 1871 census entry. The surname of Edith is very interesting, if this is the Edith who was supposed to be Isabella's daughter. I see that there was a birth of an Edith Scott in the March quarter of 1871 in West Derby. All of this family are very interesting people as are all their relations. In 1875 Edith's aunt, Clara Baylis, married Edmund Alleyne Cook, a surgeon. Edith took on the name Alleyne and from then on was known as Edith Alleyne Sinnotte. She emigrated to Australia with her mother and brother and did not marry until she was 59 years old. Edith Alleyne SINNOTTE had become an early student and accomplished practitioner of the Esperanto language. In 1918 she published a novel titled "Lilio" written entirely in Esperanto. Her novel is mentioned in "Historio de Esperanto" [1964] as a landmark in the history of the language. The name Alleyne was obviously of great significance to the family. Edith's brother Walter, had grandchildren who had the name including Alleyne Kiddle who started her working life as a professional tap-dancer and eventually became a highly respected barrister in Australia. She has a lodger John (illegible second name) and servant Ann Wattleworth, b Isle of Man The younger Isabella was a bit more difficult to find as she was indexed as STUINDTT on Ancestry. The double 'n' makes it hard to read but it looks like SINNOTT on the census page. Definitely no 'e' on the end though. Edith's entry is interesting. All born in Liverpool.
