My greatgrandfather, Josiah EASTMAN (b 1822 in Portsea, Hampshire) managed a Cocoa Rooms establishment in Chester St, Birkenhead -- this from the 1881 census. His wife Susannah (nee BASSETT, m 1844 in Stepney, London) was dead by this date. Cocoa Rooms were part of an extensive temperance movement of the time. His daughter, Sarah Louisa EASTMAN (b 1848, Islington, London) married my greatgrandfather, Thomas BURTON, in 1869 in Liverpool. Josiah also had a daughter, Esther Ann, who was 17 in 1881 and living with her father. Another EASTMAN, William (b1852, London, and probably Josiah's son) also operated a Cocoa Rooms on Price St, Birkenhead. William's wife was named Hannah and, in 1881, they had one daughter named Louisa. Any connection possible?
