Hello Gordon, Thanks for the response, I am intending to get a cert but needed to resolve both the place of his birth and the spelling of his name. There are currently three spelling variations, all of which appear attributed to this man's immediate family; two of wich appear on the same census form and two different places of origin shown on the IGI and 1881 Census. I hope that you can, therefore, appreciate what I am trying to achieve. Many thanks for the offer, I shall probably do the Chester "run" when a shopping trip looms large on the horizon. Regards, Bob. >From: "gordon evans" <[email protected]> >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [BKHD-Wirral] James PIERCEY >Date: Tue, 5 Oct 2004 13:43:33 +0100 > >Hello Bob > >Forgive me if you already know this, but you can purchase a copy of your >wife's >ancestor's birth certificate for £7-00 + an SAE. >Go to :- >http://cheshirebmd.org.uk/ >Click on Births then Search The Births Indexes. >Insert Date Range 1846-1850, Region WIRRAL, Surname PERCEY (note the >spelling), Initial J. >Click on the reference number on the right hand side, print off the >resultant application form, add your remittance/SAE and a few days later >you'll have the certificate detailing date & place of birth, parents' >names, >father's occupation and mother's maiden name. > >As regards the 1861 Census there are filmed copies at the Chester Records >Office and at Birkenhead Library - both of which are within daily striking >distance of Wigan (which I believe is where you live?). >Let me know if you're unable to make the journey because of disability or >such-like and I'll see if I can find time to look for young James for you >on one of my occasional visits to Birkenhead Library. > >Regards >Gordon Evans > > >Hello again, > >I recently posted a request for SKS to "possibly do a check on the >1861 > >census for the 11 year old James PIERCEY", unfortunately I have >had no > >response. > >He was my wife's great grandfather and was born in Wallasey in >1850, I > >would > >be grateful if someone would point me in the right direction as to >where >I > >may be able to either look at the Census for the Birkenhead area, or > >buy > >a > >copy. > >Many Thanks in advance. > >Bob WEBSTER > > > >==== BIRKENHEAD Mailing List ==== >Our list Web site with links useful for Wirral genealogy >http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~liverpool/BIRKENHEAD-WIRRAL.html > >============================== >Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration >Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial.
