Hi Monica it depends what you mean by middle class the area is a suburb of Birkenhead a working class town across the Mersy from Liverpool which suffered a decline on the closure of the shipyards of Camel Laird but I think it is looking up with the advent of CAPITOL OF CULTURE in 2008 for Liverpool houses in Westbank Rd were built around the turn of the centuty very modern for the time with gardens back and front large three story with inside bathroom and toilet a lot of them have been converted into flats fairly good amenities I think most of the district was built by a Welsh Methodist Westbank Greenbank willowbank rockybankand heathbankRds all borderd by Borough rd south rd and north rd I lived ther in the 60,s cheers George Fraser & Monica Taylor <[email protected]> wrote:I have an ancestor who died at 72 Westbank Road, Prenton about 1944.
