Hello listers, My line is John TOURNOFF who first married Mary LAWSON in 1875 in Birkenhead. Mary died in 1882 and John then married Mary Ann ROWLES in 1884 in New Brighton. There are no children listed with John and his first wife in the 1881 census so if they did have children perhaps they died young. John and Mary Ann had four children - Mary Elizabeth (Bessie), Alice, Sarah and Charles before John died in Seacombe in 1890. Mary Ann and her children are scattered on the 1891 and 1901 censuses. Mary Ann had another child named Gertrude in 1893, father unknown. I haven't been able to find anything more on Gertrude as yet, I haven't found her in 1901 nor have I found a death.
