Barbara, is this the Anchor pub you're talking about on Irby Road? When I lived over there there was a Youds family living on the opposite side of the pub and a bit further down. Dear Helen. It was a tavern which was converted from the old farmhouse and Mill, I know it was at Irby, I will have to ask my sister who lives at Upton, her husband always took us there on a Wednesday night so that he could have his glasses of beer, and she would have 2 whiskys. It was a ritual, they did it every Wednesday night., I was staying with them for a while. My sister is Joan and her husband was Hugh. Graham. Cheers. Hello Helen, I think you're talking about Irby Mill Inn, it used to be a mill a long time ago, then it was Lumsden's Cafe, just before and after the War. It was converted to an Inn (tavern) in the 1980s(approx).
