Kathy, Middle names are tantalising and often frustrating. My wife's family has the surname Graham. They were in India for generations serving the Raj. Unfortunately I don't know where they were in the 18th century before they went to India. Many of them had the middle name Milton right from the start of their time there and I know that it must be a clue but despite much effort it has not led me anywhere. David, My research subjects have added middle names later in life; dropped the middle names they were given at birth registration; or reversed first and second names whenever the whim took them. Shame their parents didn't give them three names to make things easier for me!
