    1. [BIRKENHEAD] Change of Admin: Goodbye and thanks
    2. No long goodbyes :-)) but thank you everyone for your messages both on list and privately A big thank you to Lynne for taking over the list. I wanted it to go to good hands and I can't think of anyone better to take the reins. Over the years I've been aware of Lynnes administration skills on Lancsgen and learned from them. It's a lot easier when you can have such an excellent role model and teacher and that is no flannel :-)) Good luck with all of your research everyone and I hope you find all those elusive Birkenhead rellies I'll pop in now and then if I come across any interesting Birkenhead snippets when I get back in the swing of things Ta ra for now Caryl

    1. [BIRKENHEAD] SYVRET, HUGHES, HAYNES, & Haughton
    2. Ruth Croft
    3. This is a tale of 4 sisters - The HAUGHTON girls who married local boys in 1939 and '40. I'm waiting for some certificates, so in the meantime I thought I'd ask..... In October 1939, Gertrude married my Uncle Duncan LASCELLES. One witness, Arthur HUGHES. I suspect her sister Joyce married George SYVRET on the same day in October 1939. Another sister Irene married Francis R. HAYNES also in the December ¼ of 1939. Then Winifred married Arthur HUGHES in 1940 in the December ¼ in Crewe. My Uncle was killed at the Rolls Royce factory in Crewe, by a bomb dropped by a lone bomber on 29 December 1940. (Arthur Hughes as his 'brother-in-law', registered his death, and was living at 6, Balfour Road, Birkenhead, at the time.) His widow Gertie, married again to James E. HOLT in Middlesborough in 1942. Is there anyone with family connections to these 4 lassies? I often wonder if anyone has wedding photos with my Uncle on them - but doesn't know who 'that chap' is! Regards, Ruth in Brum.
