Hi Folk One of the listers on my Clwyd list has come across a couple of family bibles, one has now been found a family home but the other is waiting to be claimed. I have agreed to put it on the Cheshire lists as the bible may have started out in Warrington which has moved over the centuries between Lancs and Cheshire! So hoping the Cheshire lists will find it a home as the Liverpool hasn't. If you recognise the families please contact Julian at: thewilliamsfamily@hotmail.co.uk Julian says: Last year I came across two old bibles in an antique shop in Chester. The shop was closing down and the owner told me all books were a pound. Both bibles are full of names and dates as well as some other interesting snippets. I'd like to reunite either of the bibles with anyone with a genuine family connection. They are in pretty poor condition but stuffed with genealogical info. The bibles are both old family bibles principally relating to three families; The Sutton Family and The Brierley / Broadbent Families. (The Brierley Family bible has now been reunited with the family) The Sutton family bible features three generations of Suttons with dates ranging from 1785 to 1885. The family appears to originate from the Lancashire / Cheshire area with references to Warrington, Leigh, and Frodsham. Richard Sutton appears to be the oldest family member mentioned born 1785. Died 1867 aged 81 years His first wife Mary Sutton (nee Siddall) died 1835. They married in Leigh His second wife Cathrine was born in 1780. Two of Richard and Marys children are recorded as dieing in America in the 1850s and 60s. In this bible is a page written in ink entitled Days of Yore this details prices of provisions in days of Yore, going back to the reign of Henry 1st. Also there is a passage about European Pastimes which is an account of the various wars in Europe from the 1700s through to the late 18th century. At some stage the bible appears to pass down to another family possibly also with Warrington connections. Head of the family is George Perdue born 1861 and married to Clara Forster born 1863. The SUTTON, PERDUE and FORSTER family bible. Having done a bit of research on Richard Sutton I have located him the 1841 census living in Silver Street, Warrington. He was born in Culcheth and his profession is listed as Wheelwright. Later generations who owned this bible include Clara Forster and George Perdue married 24 Dec 1882. Their children Harry FORSTER, Arthur, Elizabeth Mary, Eva, Florrie and George. Anyone recognise any links? Julian Williams Huddersfield. Happy hunting Pam

Be sure that SUTTON, PERDUE and FORSTER are mentioned within the subject line and in the surnames box to make it easy for anyone with connections to find it. Best wishes, Lynne
Dear Pam. I am very interested in the family bible with Sutton and Perdue, as we have connections with those names, unfortunately they were a long time ago. My mother who died 20 months ago at the age of 98 and a half knew about Perdue, and I know that the Stanley-Sutton-Wilkinson-Youds-Chatterton-Greene are names that also come into the line, would you know if any of those names are in the family bible.? Sincerely. Barbara in New Zealand. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lynne" <birkenhead.admin@gmail.com> To: <birkenhead@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 29, 2006 2:23 AM Subject: Re: [BIRKENHEAD] SUTTON, PERDUE, FORSTER family Bible found > On 11/27/06, Pam Craven <pamcraven@mynow.co.uk> wrote: >> Hi Folk >> >> >> >> One of the listers on my Clwyd list has come across a couple of family >> bibles, one has now been found a family home but the other is waiting to >> be >> claimed.
