I've just received a birth certificate for Susan Roberts b 22/3/1885. It shows her mother as "Margaret ROBERTS formerly TAIT. Her Father was John ROBERTS and they were living at 9, St. Johns Place, Birkenhead. 1881 gives John's age as 49 and Margaret as 36. Their eldest child resident with them is William age 14. Given their ages, I guess it's possible that John had an earlier marriage. I have not been able to find a reference to John and Margaret's marriage nor identify their births. Can anyone with access to earlier census records or BMD help me trace them please. Doug
