In '81 she is shown as Margaret Roberts living with husband John at 9, St John's Terrace, Birkenhead, age 25 birthplace Birkenhead. The birth certificate of her daughter Susan (b 22/03/1885) details her as Margaret Roberts formerly TAIT. I found a reference to their wedding on free BMD - Sept 1873- Liverpool 8b 227 - and her name is given as TATE. This spelling was confirmed on Lancashire BMD. Cheshire BMD listed her birth in 1855 and name as Margaret TATE. So there are a couple of certificates to send off for now. But I am still intrigued to know what happened to her in the '61 and '71 census. I've used Ancestry but not found a reference to a Margaret TATE or TAIT born in Birkenhead in 1855.
