Anyone, I am preparing to send several checks to obtain marriage and birth certificates. The only information I have are from the CRO file designators, which leave me in a bind. Two birth certificates are for two uncles and the birth location is "BIRKENHEAD". Since it will cost me 10 Pounds Sterling just to obtain a check, to which office to I address the check? I have to obtain 3 checks for three offices = 30 pounds ( that is without the cost of the certificates). Unfortunately, Wirral is one of those backwater areas that does not have much information on the Cheshire BDM database and does not accept credit cards. I have many births, deaths, and marriages in the Wirral area that do not exist on the Cheshire BDM database. Other contributors on CHESHIRE-L and BIRKENHEAD-L have provided clues for the location of the information - Quarter timeframes in "Birkenhead" and "Wirral" - mostly obtained from London. Any advice?
