My interests (up to now) in Birkenhead are:- Albert Edward BURKETT, born approx. 1869 place as yet unknown. He married Ellen HUGHES in September 1890. She died (he was a widower on his second marriage) and he married Catherine Alice WATSON in March, 1899. Albert's father was George BURKETT - commercial traveller. Catherine Alice WATSON was born 10th March 1879 at 3 Halkin Street, Birkenhead. Her father was Joseph Boden WATSON, born abt. 1853. His father was Joseph WATSON and his mother was Ellen BODEN. Catherine's mother was Sarah J. SMITH. Catherine had siblings - Louisa J., Sarah E., and Edward (possibly more, these were from the 1881 census, there could have been more children after this date). Albert and Catherine had 3 children - Josephine Alice (my grandmother), John James, and Doris. Josephine Alice married William George HOWARD in 1923 and they lived for a long time in Whetstone Lane before settling in Ellesmere Port. Also, on my husband's side of the family, I am researching the name AVERY. They started in Liverpool, then crossed over to Wallasey. Particularly James Askew AVERY, Thomas Stockdale AVERY, John Stockdale AVERY, and James Knowles AVERY. The two James' lived at Prospect Place, Liscard. Any bells ringing with anyone?
