    3. Barbara, I dont know of an Ada Evans. My great grandaunt Mary Ellen Evans had brothers and sisters: Jane, Margaret, Sidney, John R and William. They were born between 1851 and 1863. John R was born in Liverpool in 1860. The 1861 census shows him as a student in theology. The family belonged to the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist church so I imagine that he became one of their ministers but I have lost trace of him after 1881. William was born in Liverpool in 1863. He married Harriet Ann ? and they lived at 34, Hatherley Street, Seacombe or at least that is where he died in 1907. I dont know the names of any children. Do you have names of any of your Evans ancestors? To find if there is any connection between your Sparks friends and my ancestors I would have to know the names of their parents, grandparents etc. There have been Sparkes in Wirral for hundreds of years who originated from a number of different locations including Eastham, Wallasey, Bromborough etc. There is no known connection between each of these branches. I have a very thoroughly researched Sparkes family tree with numerous names many of whom could be the ancestor of your friend. Greg Dawson in his book "Tingvelle" refers to an Alan Sparks who was an engineering manager at Lairds. Greg suggests that Alan Sparks is a descendent of Jack Sparks after whom Sparks Lane in Thingwall is named. If this is corrrect Alan will be a distant relation of mine. Is your friend a relation of Alan Sparks. If so, I would be very interested in making contact with him as would a number of other distant relatives both locally and in Canada with whom I am in contact. Is your friend Fred Sparks interested enough in Family history to try to follow this up? Look forward to hearing from you - David ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barbara Terrace" <barbara.terrace@lineone.net> To: <BIRKENHEAD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 22, 2001 7:00 PM Subject: Re: [BKHD] Hugh JONES + Mary Ellen EVANS David I have EVANS in my tree my grandma ADA EVANS married JOSEPH HENRY WILLIAMS.
