Hi, I have been pouring over mountains of information regarding my Cheshire ancestry. In all of this material, one is a family slang term "Minnie". Official records from Lever Brothers showing that my great uncle George Farrall died on 10/6/1951 and a pension was to be paid to the Widow "Minnie". "Minnie" was born on 18/4/1874, but how does one research "Minnie". Any ideas what name that might refer to - maybe Minerva? My other term come from a recent marriage certificate. The occupation of father of the groom is listed as "Gentleman", while the occupation of the bride is "labourer". What is the meaning of "Gentleman", as an "occupation"!!?? Cheers and regards, John Farrall Burke, Virginia Researching: FARRALL, BEBINGTON, DAWSON, BRAITHWAITE, WHITEHEAD, WHITE, HALL
