    3. Hi Pat once again Chester St is the start of the main Road from Birhkenhead ferry to Cester .the A41 and is still there allthough is bypassed by the Mersey Tunnel you will have to apply for the birth or marriage certificate to find fathers name you don't say the no of the house in Chester St. Richard Carrol should be on the 1841 if you ask someone will look it up for you then if you specify the mothers name you should be able to find more information (address, children, mothers mainen name etc. best of luck George Robert Tennant <birkenheadtram@tiscali.co.uk> wrote: Hi Pat, Eastham is 5 miles south of Birkenhead. 3. Hi There, I am new to your list, I live in Victoria Australia. I have joined your group to try and solve my on going puzzle. The name that I am having so much trouble with is Carroll. I have got back to Richard Carroll who was born approx 1835-6. On each census records he states that he was born in Eastham Cheshire, I have search but with no results because I have been told there was no Church in Eastham for those years. I have found a Richard Carroll who's age fits on the 1841 census living in Birkenhead which looks like Bk Chester Street. None of the Family names seem to fit, but I was wondering if anyone would know how close it is to Eastham and is it possible they baptised children when living in Birkenhead and it be classed as part of Eastham.? I hope there is someone who knows the area, and of a few surrounding Churches. I have Richard married with his wife and Children for later years, that is easy. What I would love to know is his Father & Mother names. Please can anyone advice, I would be so very grateful. My best wishes, Pat.

    3. Well if you put eastham cheshire genuki into google and click on the top hit you will get info including a picture of the church. The registers are in the record office so presumably you can get a photoopy from them. There shouldnt be any research charges since your details are pretty specific. the only problem you might have is the currency/payment thing but perhaps they take credit cards these days. Hi Pat, his marriage certificate, if he married in England, will give the name and occupation of his father. I always try to get that before I look for birth records. It is easy to research the wrong person otherwise. good luck Kathy

This is the only information on the couple on Ancestry, after this I can't find them I have checked the 1901 census and cannot find them on there. I have checked the Gro Index from 1894-1960 and cannot find a death for either of them, I am now assuming that they might have emigrated. I have checked Ancestry for the American census and they are not there. Hugh Frederick Kewin may have been born in the Isle of Man in 1871 this is on the IGI but I havn't got confirmation that he is mine.He has the right father and occupation I have the parents and Hugh in the 1881 census for the Isle of Man. Does anyone have access to Australian or Canadian records that they could check please for Agnes and Hugh KEWIN after 1894 Or can anyone find them in the 1901 census? Thanks in Advance Sylvia (Wirral)
