Hello Donna I haven't any information about your query, but thought you'd like to hear a tale about Hawarden The locals used to pronounce it, probably still do, as HARDEN I saw a program on British television many years ago, and a soldier was telling a story about a German Spy, who was posing as a British soldier, getting caught, because he told a comrade that he came from HAY WARDEN. Unfortunately for the spy, the person he told knew the area and the correct way to pronounce Hawarden. Hi, while in the RAF we were posted to Hawarden(they do still say Harden!)sometimes the address would have Flintshire and others Chester, depending on who the mail came from,so that would maybe explain the Birkenhead ? wendy

Hello List, If you recognise the name Torpenhow Open Air School which used to be located on Montgomery Hill in Frankby Wirral from around 1945 to around 1995, then perhaps you were there as a pupil or staff member? Hi list, Please can I add Judy to the list of wonderful people, Best wishes, Pat.
Dear List, I am so very grateful to all those people who replied to my call for help, what a lovely bunch you are. I thank you so very much. Gordon, Geoff, Andy, Robert, Kathy and George. I do hope I have not missed anyone, thank you if I have. I thought I would never solve this one, and now I feel confident I will. My best wishes to you all, Pat.
Kathy, The libraries only have records to 1960. I was looking for a burial in 1993. I sent numerous emails which were not replied to and phoned a few times. They agreed that they had seen the emails and I had an exact date but told me each time that they would look for the information when they had the time. They always sounded very helpful and very willing to look up the information for me but nothing ever came of it. Hi George, Thanks so much, I am so lucky to have this info sent to me. Thanks, I could imagine he could have walked to Eastham from Birkenhead. I would think it was before the tunnel was built, and that would have made a difference. You are helping me so much, yes another kind person found their Marriage and that is the very first thing I will do. Thank you George, I am so excited. My best wishes, Pat. Hi Robert, Thank you so much for your information, it is such a great help. I now have a better understanding of the area, to know names of churches really does make a difference when ordering films from the Mormon library. This is the main source of information for us living in Australia when doing research for the UK, I have noticed there is a lot more info coming out on the Internet, which is a bonus. Without the history and knowledge of the area you can get lost a bit, so thank you so very much for passing on your expertise. It is very much appreciated. My best wishes, Pat.
