I have checked out where 62 Chester Street stood and it would have been on the South side of the Magistrates Courts behind the Birkenhead Town Hall. A new block of shops and flat accommodation stands there now. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Alicerawley@aol.com> To: <BIRKENHEAD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 20, 2006 5:22 PM Subject: Re: [BKHD-Wirral] Westminster Hotel, Birkenhead > if im right there was the westminster pub corner of price street alice and > maybe near to the old haymarket ? > > > ==== BIRKENHEAD Mailing List ==== > Our list Web site with links useful for Wirral genealogy > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~liverpool/BIRKENHEAD-WIRRAL.html > > ============================== > Search the US Census Collection. Hi again to you all on the Birkenhead list, While I am patiently waiting for a Marriage certificate, I thought that would fill in the time by sending a request to the list and ask if any one can help me with Catholic parish registers for Eastham 'Overpool' for Baptisms for my Carroll family?. Last time I asked a question, I was bold over with how generous & kind the group is. I thought if it is ok, I would ask if anyone can help me again. I am trying to find the baptisms for the following. Mary Carol born about 1831, Margaret Carrol born about 1834, Richard Carrol born about 1836. These names came from the 1851 census from a very kind man Gordon Evans. Also, is there an index for the 1841 census available for this area that I can buy? Thanking you. My very best wishes, Pat.
if im right there was the westminster pub corner of price street alice and maybe near to the old haymarket ?
Hi Tom, I have been looking in Google to see if its in there but the only one in Cheshire seems to be this one in Chester _http://www.priceline.co.uk/pcln/hotel/photos/217118_ (http://www.priceline.co.uk/pcln/hotel/photos/217118) .You could try emailing them and asking if they have any records from past employees? I will send a copy of the image offlist so you can check all details. best regards kathy Hoylake
My Great Grandmother, Mary Madden, was a cook at the Westminster Hotel as shown in the 1881 census. Does anyone have information about the Westminster Hotel? Tom Madden Wisconsin

Hi Wendy, I have an Elizabeth JONES, daughter of Thomas JONES, painter, married to John ROWBOTTOM in 1857 in Liverpool. On the 1861 census for Garston, Lancs. it looks like she was born in Birkenhead ca. 1833. Any connection to your Joneses? Wendy, Can't see that we have a connection. The furthest back I can take my Clarkes is to Peter Clarke, a customs officer, born about 1808 in Liverpool. He married, firstly, Mary Jordan in 1831 and, secondly, Sarah Eccles in 1840. Sarah was the daughter of Simon Eccles, blacksmith, of West Derby. My Evans ancestors in Liverpool descended from Robert Evans who had a smallholding at Aberffraw in Anglesey and was landlord of "The Eagles" there. I have two JONES with Liverpool and Anglesey connections. Firstly, my gg grandparents, John and Sidney Jones. I believe that both of them were born in Anglesey, John in 1788 and Sidney in 1794. The first record I find of them is in the 1841 census living in a cellar on the west side of St Paul's Square, Liverpool. I only have a record of one child, Caroline, born in Liverpool in 1821. She married John Evans in Liverpool in 1846. John had been born at Aberffraw in Anglesey the son of Robert referred to above. The second JONES is Hugh born about 1851 at Holyhead. Hugh was a tailor who moved to Liverpool and married Mary Ellen, the daughter of the John Evans referred to above. Hugh and Mary had children Hugh, John, William and Caroline. I have a third JONES in Liverpool, Robert Mattew Jones. He married John and Caroline Evans's daughter Sidney in Liverpool in 1882. Robert was born at Ynyscynhiairn in Caernarfonshire. My Sparks are all descended from those living in the parish of Eastham in the 18th century. I have quite extensive information on them, their ancestors and descendents. I don't have a Violet among them that I know of. Park Lane, Liverpool was the address where David KIRKPATRICK "practised" in the years 1824 until his death in 1837. The husband of a second cousin of mine knows Liverpool well, having studied there, in the 50s, and he told me that at the time Park Lane was as "posh" as its namesake in London. David Kirkpatrick and his wife Elizabeth SILLER or SELLERS were married in 1818 in the Church of St. Peter, in the Parish of Liverpool. I have a copy of the Licence to marry which he signed and impressed a fingerprint, as did a witness I.M. Kirkpatrick, who I cannot identify. If anyone here has already helped me in this - thanks again - and please forgive me for repeating that I do no know why, for sure, they lived in Caldy and took their children to Liverpool to be baptised. I suspect a non conformist religion, or Presbyterian, Kirk of Scotland. There hasn't been any since 12 June, 8th June, 5th June. Seems a lot of us have unsolved problems. Perhaps I should post mine again. I am looking for the parents of David KIRKPATRICK who was born 1783, don't know where of course, but he lived in Caldy, worked out of Liverpool as a Master Mariner/Surgeon where he died at 130 Park Lane, in 1837 Janet ----- Original Message ----- From: "Fred Waring" <fred.waring@verizon.net> > Is there some problem?
