Hello Barbara, I'm afraid my Jane is not the one you're looking for, my Jane as I have just found out myself, was Married to a John Price WILLIAMS in 1891. Thanx for all your time and work from Christchurch New Zealand. Chris P. NZ :-)
No long goodbyes :-)) but thank you everyone for your messages both on list and privately A big thank you to Lynne for taking over the list. I wanted it to go to good hands and I can't think of anyone better to take the reins. Over the years I've been aware of Lynnes administration skills on Lancsgen and learned from them. It's a lot easier when you can have such an excellent role model and teacher and that is no flannel :-)) Good luck with all of your research everyone and I hope you find all those elusive Birkenhead rellies I'll pop in now and then if I come across any interesting Birkenhead snippets when I get back in the swing of things Ta ra for now Caryl
Thank you for the introduction, Caryl, and many thanks for all of your hard work over the years. I know it was a difficult decision for you to pass this list on to another admin and I'm honoured that you chose me. Hi everyone! <waving> It's nice to see lots of familiar e-mail addresses subscribed to the list. If anyone needs help regarding subscribing, unsubscribing, changing from Digest to List mode (or vice versa), or needs any other assistance with the list, I'll be happy to help. Just drop me a line at either BIRKENHEAD-admin@rootsweb.com or to birkenhead.admin@gmail.com and I'll do my best to assist. I look forward to working with the list and wish you all good luck with your research. Best wishes, Lynne

Caryl, thank you for all you have done for this list. Although I don't participate much at this time I have benefited from your advice and have appreciated your help. I wish you improved health and hope you might still be able to keep in touch with the list. Very best wishes, Dorothy, Calgary, Canada
Listers After much consideration through ill health and other issues I've decided to hand over the list to another admin Lynne Klein I know you will all be gentle with her and give her your support. You have been great listers I'd like to thank all of the listers old and new who contribute and help out here The Birkenhead list started out as a labour of love for me. Birkenhead is my home town. There wasn't a Birkenhead list until I started one Lately however I feel that because of the factors mentioned I haven't been giving the list the full attention it deserves, or contributing as much as I'd like to, although I have been reading the posts and dealing with the administration side So a big thanks to everyone and over to Lynne now Caryl Williams
Ann and Andrew You wrote :- >I now need to research the marriage of WILLIAM (snr) and JANE. In a post three days ago I suggested this as a possibility :- 30 July 1821 Liverpool St Peter William STEWART and Jane ROBERTS A very kind person on another list has looked up this marriage for me in the Liverpool St Peter PR's and tells me that that the entry actually reads :- 30th July 1821, William Stuart, stone mason & Jane Roberts, spinster, by Banns. Both of the parish of Liverpool. It's not proof-positive, of course, but as father's occupation is given as mason in the Neston St Mary/St Helen PR baptism entry for your William STEWART (11 February 1827) this is a good pointer to it being the right marriage? Ann & Andrew >I now need to research the marriage of WILLIAM and JANE Presumably you've considered this, from the IGI? :- 30 July 1821 Liverpool St Peter William STEWART and Jane ROBERTS The Neston St Mary/St Helen PR's have the baptism of children of William and Jane STUART/STEWART, mason, of Neston, as follows :- 19 Jan 1823 Anne 23 May 1823 Robert (d1843 aged 19?) 4 Mar 1825 Jane 11 Feb 1827 William (m Sarah SELLS 1860 Shoreditch?) 1 Mar 1829 John (m Mary SMITH 1857 Liverpool St Nicholas) 19 Apr 1833 Catherine The John born c1831 you ask about is probably the one above (b1829). Hello, I would be very grateful for any information/ advice please. We are researching the above family and the earliest record we have is from the parish records of Neston 1827 which recorded the baptism of WILLIAM STUART(jnr) to WILLIAM (snr)AND JANE STUART.This supports info from1861 -2001census's and up to WILLIAMS(jnr) death in Liverpool, his marriage certifcate, and the birth certificates of 2 children. I now need to research :- a)the marriage of WILLIAM(snr) and JANE b)their respective birth places(family hearsay has always been that the STEWARTS came from Scotland, and became farmer /owners of land in and around NESTON.however:- c)The Ancestry 1841 census gave us WILLIAM'S(snr) p.o.b as IRELAND BRITISH SUBJECT,as does the 1851 census. The latter also gave us 4 possible siblings for WILLIAM(jnr) ANN1822, JOHN1829 THOMAS1836, AND SAMUEL1838.but of course this census gave no relationship info..see below d) The Ancestry1841 census gave JANE'S pob as NESTON, but as HOLYHEAD IN 1851. e) I am unable to find any trace of WILLIAM(snr) in the 1861 census f) I believe WILLIAM(snr) to be related to JOHN STEWART/STUART born circa1831 in NESTON..Another son? maybe a nephew ? We think son, from the 1841 census. We are in contact with a direct(documented and thus verified) descendant of his, still living in CHESHIRE,but neither family can throw any light on the issues raised above We would very much appreciate any suggestions, information etc. There is also strong documentary evidence of close links between the STEWARTS/STUARTS and the MEALOR family for the same area, especially Parkgate. We would also welcome any thoughts on that link!
