    3. Hi All My Research interests as requested: JAMES RYDER born 1750. Became a sea captain on the "Dublin" taking Cheese to London 1777-1794, then a merchant in Liverpool where he died 1827, and was buried at St Anne Richmond. He lived for a time at Frodsham, and married MARIA daughter of: JOHN URMSON (and MARIA? who died 1795 and was buried at Frodsham,) buried September 1801, died at FRODSHAM but not buried there. I suspect an URMSON family grave somewhere. If SKS could find either of these, two longstanding brick walls would disappear and my cup runneth over!!!! Thank you for your kind attention, and Good Luck to the list! John

    3. I have been searching for the origins of Anne James, daughter of William James. Anne married Thomas Lace in Birkenhead St.Mary's on August 25, 1852. At the time of her marriage she was living in Birkenhead. In 1861 Census she was living in Liverpool, Toxteth Park with her husband and family. She indicated she had been born in Liverpool. Would there have been a time that part of Liverpool was considered part of Birkenhead, or vice versa? Any suggestions appreciated. This is currently the only family line not moved back to the 18th Century. Jim Smith Vancouver, BC

    3. I am trying to find out more about my great grandfther James Delahunty (and his wife Johanna nee Kenny). According to the 1881 census he was a "decorative painter" in Birkenhead and he was listed in the Gore trade directory in the 80s as a painter. He was not in Birkenhead in 1871 and he is not listed with his family in 1891 in Birkenhead - possibly dead. His oldest daughtere was Anastasia. I am interested in where he came from -- probably Ireland but possibly France. I am also interested in churches where he may have worked -probably Roman Catholic in Birkenhead, Bury and Manchester. I would like to know where the records of the RC churches in Birkenhead are and how to access them. It would also be helpful if I knew when in the 1870s he began to be listed in the Gore trade directory. A second interest in the pool law records (or their equivalent) for Birkenhead in the last half of the 19th century -- probably 1870s to 1900. Where are they, what information do they contain, how does one access them. I suspect that my great grandmother Ann Waring may have had some dealing with pool law authorities. 2. My interests (up to now) in Birkenhead are:- Albert Edward BURKETT, born approx. 1869 place as yet unknown. He married Ellen HUGHES in September 1890. She died (he was a widower on his second marriage) and he married Catherine Alice WATSON in March, 1899. Albert's father was George BURKETT - commercial traveller. Catherine Alice WATSON was born 10th March 1879 at 3 Halkin Street, Birkenhead. Her father was Joseph Boden WATSON, born abt. 1853. His father was Joseph WATSON and his mother was Ellen BODEN. Catherine's mother was Sarah J. SMITH. Catherine had siblings - Louisa J., Sarah E., and Edward (possibly more, these were from the 1881 census, there could have been more children after this date). Albert and Catherine had 3 children - Josephine Alice (my grandmother), John James, and Doris. Josephine Alice married William George HOWARD in 1923 and they lived for a long time in Whetstone Lane before settling in Ellesmere Port. Also, on my husband's side of the family, I am researching the name AVERY. They started in Liverpool, then crossed over to Wallasey.
