Can you tell me more about the poor law records in Birkenhead in mid to late 18th century. How are they organized? Is it possible to find information about child support for a single mother? thanks for any information at all. fred waring jfwaring@compuserve.com
Hi Margie, Unfortunately I can't help with your names but I just have a thought or two for you. I don't know if you are aware but Durning was the name of one of the wealthy landowners in the West Derby areas of Liverpool, there are roads named after them. The Durning family married into the Holt family who built up the Blue Funnel Shipping Line in Liverpool through the 1800's. I am supposed to be descended from the Holt's myself. This may not help you but you never know, if you can establish the birth place of Margaret... Should you ever need them I have some notes on these families and bits of family trees which might help, no Margarets at the moment though. Best of luck, Sue. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob&Margie Page" <bmpage@sympatico.ca> To: <BIRKENHEAD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 17, 2001 4:57 PM Subject: [BKHD] Need your help > I am a new member and would appreciate some help searching for my Great Grandparents.. I am a new member and would appreciate some help searching for my Great Grandparents.. Owen Jones and his wife Margaret Durning. I have the census for 1881 which told me they had one daughter born in 1881 Mary E. This Mary E. turns out to be my Grandmother. What I would like to know is, the names of any other children born "after" 1881. I would also like to find out more about Owen and Margaret, marriage date, death, etc. I have the birth certificate for Mary E. already, it tells me that Owen & Margaret lived at 48 Dacre Street , Birkenhead at the time Mary was born. Hope this helps and someone can help me with this. Thank you in advance. Cheers Margie in Ontario Canada bmpage@sympatico.ca
Hello List, I would like to thank everyone on the list who helped me with this Oxton address and especially Brenda,Tim and Andy. Regards, Wil Roberts{Wigan}
I would appreciate very much if someone, with access, could do a lookup for a lookup for the FARRALL family in the 1891 census, who's address would have been 48 Park Road, Port Sunlight, Cheshire - they moved there in 1890. I don't know if "Port Sunlight" would have listed with that name. Thanks and regards. John Farrall Researching: FARRALL BEBINGTON DAWSON WHITEHEAD
Is there anyone on the list who could conveniently look at Gore's directory for the years from 1872-1880 to see if James Delahunty, a painter is listed. If so what address (es) were given and of course what year.. I am trying to establish when he came to Birkenhead. So the earlier the citation the better from my perspective. fred waring
Dear list My interests are simply DWERRYHOUSE. When the Bebington registers began in the mid 1500s a DWARRIHOUSE family was to be found there. They died out or left early 1600s. I also have references to two marriages taking place in the late 1800s: 1866 to 1870 DWERRYHOUSE Alice & BALL Charles @ Hooton, St. Paul DWERRYHOUSE Thomas & LEIGH Hannah A @ Tranmere, St. Paul 1900 DWERRYHOUSE Alfred Harold & ANTIONS Mabel Alice @ Mary New Brighton, St. James Most of my clan came from just across the river in the Liverpool/Childwall area. Regards Paul Dwerryhouse Hawarden, Flintshire, UK.

Caryl, Many thanks for your information in Price's, Bromborough. Good information. As for Hannah FARRALL, my great aunt was born in Bebington, Cheshire in 1877, therefore, I don't think she is right one. Nice to have a site like this one, where everyone has the same interests.
