    1. [BKHD] Edgar C. ANDERSON Esq. M.B.E. M.A.C.A. F.A.C.A.
    2. Anne Nazari
    3. Hello To All, my Edgar Charles ANDERSON, with all of those letters after his name, died in 1969 at "Edgeby Grange" a nursing home in Stockport Cheshire. Does anyone have any information about this nursing home please? Edgar Charles ANDERSON who was born in Peckham, Camberwell Surrey in 1876, was the son of Anthony Holme ANDERSON and Janette McKNIGHT of Birkenhead. In the 1881 census of Camberwell, we see Edgar, aged 4 living with his sister and parents. Edgar became a Chartered Accountant and spent the years 1900 to 1906 in Western Australia. I would like to fill in some gaps in his history and if anyone can help with an ANDERSON connection it would be great. The last known addresses for Edgar Charles ANDERSON were 21 Calderstone Road Allerton in 1922, and "Lindale Grange" Ridge Park Bramhall, Cheshire in 1962. If anyone can pass on some information I would be very happy. Anne.

    2. Just a thought Tricia Do you have a newer version of Windows? 2000, Millenium or XP? I have Windows XP on a new PC and have found that some of my CD's both old and new are not compatible with this version of Windows If this is not the cause contact the suppliers of the Software, there may be a fault with it. Software suppliers usually have a web-site with contact details and technical help, or the Help and Support phone numbers should be on the back of the CD box Caryl > Dear List, > Is there SKS that can help me. I have cleaned them but the reader says the file is being repaired. Then it lets me know it cannot repair the file. I have tried re-installing the Adobe reader, but still no luck. Am I doing something wrong as all my other CD's work fine. Or is there something wrong with the CD's I have just purchased? Many thanks in advance. Tricia FHSC3986BK

    3. This may not be of much help to Bryan Briscoe-Smith but I have discovered a BRISCOE connection to my family in Bebington. I have not explored it because it is a bit on the periphery but he may get some clues from it. Ralph Briscoe Williams was born to George and Margaret Williams of Hr. Bebington. Margaret died after the birth in December 1878. According to the 1881 Census Ralph lived with his grandparents, Roger and Isabella, in Hr. Bebington while his father lived nearby with his other older children. In 1910 there was a child Leonard born to Ralph and his wife Margaret. This was around 1910. He was baptised at St. Marks Church, New Ferry and the family was living at 91 Cobden St., New Ferry. I shall be interested if you can tie in with this Briscoe as I haven't discovered where the name Briscoe comes in. Ralph's mother's name was Williams, the same as his father's. Perhaps it was her mother's name! DODD is another family name from New Ferry. My g. grandmother was Sarah DODD, born Primrose Hill in 1843. Her father came from Malpas and found employment in the brickworks. 2. John Farrall
    3. Hi, I have been pouring over mountains of information regarding my Cheshire ancestry. In all of this material, one is a family slang term "Minnie". Official records from Lever Brothers showing that my great uncle George Farrall died on 10/6/1951 and a pension was to be paid to the Widow "Minnie". "Minnie" was born on 18/4/1874, but how does one research "Minnie". Any ideas what name that might refer to - maybe Minerva? My other term come from a recent marriage certificate. The occupation of father of the groom is listed as "Gentleman", while the occupation of the bride is "labourer". What is the meaning of "Gentleman", as an "occupation"!!?? Cheers and regards, John Farrall Burke, Virginia Researching: FARRALL, BEBINGTON, DAWSON, BRAITHWAITE, WHITEHEAD, WHITE, HALL

    1. [BKHD] BOYLE, ANDERSON, HOLME, WRIGHT.
    2. Anne Nazari
    3. Hi To All, is this a Riddle or Not? The clock of my mother Frances Holme that was given to her by her mother, Alice Holme (formally Wright). She had it from her aunt Betty who lived in the neighbourhood of Gatacre (near Liverpool) who died at the age of 90, when Aunt Duncan was about 9 years old" It was an old clock when Betty Wright came into possession of it. List of owners of the clock which has been passed on to the eldest female of the family. Betty WRIGHT, Alice HOLME nee WRIGHT, Frances ANDERSON nee HOLME, Anna BOYLE nee ANDERSON, Jean RICE nee BOYLE. Many years ago, I heard about a Grandfather Clock that was passed down through the eldest daughter of each generation. Being the eldest daughter of the BOYLE family, my ears pricked up and I was intrigued. On a vist to my Aunt in Surrey, I was able to see this clock, but I was more interested in the list of names of previous owners that was kept inside the clock. My Aunt had kept this list and she showed it to me. There was a little note written by my Great Grandmother Anna ANDERSON, who was born in Birkenhead in 1859. She must have been a young child when she wrote out the note and list. I had done quite a few years of research on the ANDERSON family tree before I was made aware of this list. Imagine my glee when all the names on the list checked out as my line of descent. Anna had listed the names of several generations of women who had inherited the clock. This confirmed that the research I had done was correct. However, it set me a puzzle that I still have not solved. I come back to it every now and then. It is a teaser, as I have not come accross the name Duncan for a female, was it her christian name or surmane? I have not been able to find out who Aunt Duncan was. Is anyone researching the names BOYLE, ANDERSON, HOLME and WRIGHT? Kind Regards from Anne in Australia.
