    3. Hello again, I recently posted a request for SKS to "possibly do a check on the 1861 census for the 11 year old James PIERCEY", unfortunately I have had no response. He was my wife's great grandfather and was born in Wallasey in 1850, I would be grateful if someone would point me in the right direction as to where I may be able to either look at the Census for the Birkenhead area, or buy a copy. Many Thanks in advance. Bob WEBSTER _________________________________________________________________ It's fast, it's easy and it's free. Get MSN Messenger today! http://www.msn.co.uk/messenger

    3. Hello Bob -- Could you please let us know what the spelling variations for PIERCEY that you have are? Beth Peers Manitoba, Canada -----Original Message----- From: Robert Webster [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, October 05, 2004 8:16 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [BKHD-Wirral] James PIERCEY Hello Gordon, Thanks for the response, I am intending to get a cert but needed to resolve both the place of his birth and the spelling of his name. There are currently three spelling variations, all of which appear attributed to this man's immediate family; two of wich appear on the same census form and two different places of origin shown on the IGI and 1881 Census. I hope that you can, therefore, appreciate what I am trying to achieve. Many thanks for the offer, I shall probably do the Chester "run" when a shopping trip looms large on the horizon. 3. Debbie I have quite a number of Dickenson/Dickinson references from Liverpool, mostly a bit early for you (1770-1820), so if you get back a generation earlier, I might be of more help. I do have a reference to a Thomas Dickinson in the 1841 census age 19, living with James Dickinson(35) Customs, and Elizabeth (40), both born in county, as well as several ?siblings. This is in James Street. In 1851 there is Thomas, a carpenter in HO107/2181, fol 81 (this index entry includes a Margaret and 3 male children, noted as infants and scholars - there's no occupation for Margaret so I "assume" it's a wife???) and a there is a shipwright in HO107/2177 (all born Liverpool) In HO 107/2182 are Thomas - HM customs, born Croston, and a victualler born Garston. The 1851 is indexed (I think it's now online at Family History online) but these references were noted down some years ago when not all areas were covered, so it doesn't mean he's not there! None of these jumps out as being "your" Thomas. As I said, if you get back a generation, let me know and I will see if I have noted anything down that could be of use to you! 3. Hi If there is an index for these, I would be very grateful if someone would look up a Thomas Dickinson who was born ca 1823 in Liverpool. He had a daughter called Margaret who was born 1850-53 and was an iron founder. I am having real problems in trying to find Margaret's birth. I know that the family moved to Birkenhead before 1860. According to the 1871, 1881 and 1891 census she was born in Liverpool but I can't find any trace of her in Liverpool in 1851. Many thanks Debbie Jackson Hong Kong

    3. I would agree that the house on the right appears to have been modernised in some way. Could be an extra storey or windows let in to walls of the loft. Compare the size of the people and the position of the windows! The chimneys seem to have been replaced in brick. Then the window on the top right has been altered, as if to put in a bathroom - a bit exotic for the late 19thC - and what looks like a pipe wouldn't be practical for the purpose. It looks to me like there is an animal byre on the far left, or possibly an old dairy or workshop. Then the house with the old thatch. Then possibly a passageway that has been filled in. I have had a bit of a trawl on the web, and think the man's hat is a 1870s model. So I have two theories. One is that this is one of the Clunies in Scotland, the woman is wearing a traditional farmworkers outfit (as worn by Bondagers) and the house was improved under the 1920s government scheme. If this is indeed Cheshire then it is probably a reprint of a photo taken two or three decades earlier - there were no postcards in the 1870s - and used for its picturesque qualities. Hope this helps Judy ---------- >From: "Andy Sutton" <[email protected]> >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [BKHD-Wirral] 1861 Saughall Massie (cont) >Date: 03, Sun Oct, 2004, 7:13 am > > Judy > > 1024 x 768 if you click on this link it will take to a copy of the image > in a bmp format. 3. Greetings All, I am new to the list as I have just "found" that my wife's great grandfather was born in Wallasey in 1850 and was called James PIERCEY. I would be grateful if SKS could possibly do a check on the 1861 census for the 11 year old James. Many Thanks in advance. 3. Am currently looking for information on the Hartley family from Birkenhead and Wallasey early 1900's. Edward Hartley married Jane Conway lived at The Woodlands and Clifton Road. Edward worked for Cammell Laird. Children were Edward, Arthur, Sydney, Albert, Harry. Ernest, Ivy, Phyllis and Elsie. Edward played Bowls competetively. Believe their parish church was St. Pauls. Does anyone know which school the children may have attended or have any info on this family. Second request is there a family history chat site for Birkenhead anywhere? Thanks Jane --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? New and Improved Yahoo! Mail - Send 10MB messages!
