I am looking for this COPELAND family branch. Originally he was in YKS but then must have shifted to the Birkenhead area where his brother-in-law - my Grandfather - was working on the docks. I gather from my aunt that both branches of the family drifted apart and lost touch with each other and I would like to make contact again 1. HARRY1 COPELAND s/o Joseph COPELAND and Elizabeth McClymont (416); Harry (416) was born on circa 1891 in London, ENG; he has also been reported to have been born in Newcastle on Tyne, NBL, ENG; he married Maggie O'Hagan (417); he died at Birkenhead, CHS, ENG. Hello Linda We have a lot of common names and I wonder if we are related. I will do the broad brush version first and then get into the detail later if need be. I have quite a lot of detail of the various people if it turns out we have a connection. 1. Pye connection? My grandmother was Martha Coventry (nee Hennessy) - her parents were John Hennessy and Catherine (Connor). Martha had an older sister Katherine who married a Pye (Katherine became my mother Ann's adored "Auntie Katie Pye"). 2. O'Brien connection? Martha married John Coventry whose parents were John Coventry and Ann O'Brien - Ann was born in Scotland but her parents were both Irish born and they lived in Kirkdale, Liverpool. 3. Foster connection? Martha had a son Joseph (my mother's younger brother) who married May (I think Mary originally) Foster - they are both still living in Liverpool (maybe Aughton?). 4. And the strange connection between us is that my mother Ann Coventry married Lawson Burns...but he was born in Glasgow and then came to New Zealand as a boy so this name has to be a red herring in all this lot! So what do you think? I look forward to hearing from you. WHARTON,YOUDS,CHATTERTON,WILKINSON,SMITH,DWERRYHOUSE,PEACOCK,KENYON,COGH LAN,POVALL,BARLOW. Dear Gordon. My Kenyon is John, in 1789 his daughter Alice married John Dwerryhouse, at Childwall, Stanley Youds married Mary Chatterton, they had my gt grandmother Catherine Youds who married John Wilkinson, Catherine was born in Bidston in 1833, married John in 1858, their son my grandfather was Samuel Wilkinson born 1876 in Birkenhead married my grandmother Harriet Dwerryhouse in I think 1899, my mother Harriet Wilkinson married Thomas Jackson Smith at St Anne , Stanley, Liverpool in April 1931, I was born in 1933. that is my grandfathers line, my grandmother Harriets mother was Eliza Jane Peacock, she married John Dwerryhouse in 1873 December , at St Nicholas, Liverpool landing stage. her father was William Peacock and I think not proven yet, that William may have married Catherine Coghlan 1848 at Cork, Ireland. Povall and Barlow are intermarried with the Youds and Wilkinson. I know that are but cannot at this stage find the dates, Barlow was Catherine Youds (Wilkinson) sister in law who lived with her for a time in Birkenhead. Catherine Wilkinson new Youds had a brother 2 years younger than her named Thomas. The Youds lived at Bidston, and I am told that we are related to Robert Youds who had the flour Mill on Bidston Hill. Any connections that you can see ? Cheers, Barbara <New Zealand.Oh! I forgot Wharton, I think he was Thomas, his daughter married William Youds in 1700s. Somewhere there is a connection with the Royal family, not sure who, but it was all hushed up and we were told as children we were not allowed to tell anyone, as Queen Victoria was a cousin Cheers. Lester from Wallasey and Liverpool Stakes from Rock Ferry and Port Sunlight Austin from Upton, Rock Ferry and Liverpool Hoping there is someone out there who connects with these names, not much luck so far. Sue
Hello listers, My line is John TOURNOFF who first married Mary LAWSON in 1875 in Birkenhead. Mary died in 1882 and John then married Mary Ann ROWLES in 1884 in New Brighton. There are no children listed with John and his first wife in the 1881 census so if they did have children perhaps they died young. John and Mary Ann had four children - Mary Elizabeth (Bessie), Alice, Sarah and Charles before John died in Seacombe in 1890. Mary Ann and her children are scattered on the 1891 and 1901 censuses. Mary Ann had another child named Gertrude in 1893, father unknown. I haven't been able to find anything more on Gertrude as yet, I haven't found her in 1901 nor have I found a death. Look forward to hearing from anyone who recognises these names. Lee In Australia [email protected]

Barbara we have spoken before re Youds and Wharton, but I am interested in your Dwerryhouse conection. I have some via my South Wales relatives. My Tamplins came up to Yorkshire and married some Dwerryhouses, but I think that at least one branch moved across to Liverpool. Have you been in contact with Paul Dwerryhouse? He has a lot of information re the family. Babs -------Original Message------- From: [email protected] Date: 10/16/04 06:03:17 To: [email protected] Subject: [BKHD-Wirral] Roll Call. Hi Dave Just on the offchance, did any of your Hodson family ever marry an Anderson ? One of my clan has Hodson as a Christian name, which is really unusual, so I am thinking it may be because of a family marriage..... thanks Sian ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Greenly" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, October 15, 2004 7:47 PM Subject: [BKHD-Wirral] Re: Roll Call - HODSON, TWEEDLE, > > > HODSON - Tranmere & Oxton from 1850 -on > > TWEEDLE- Tranmere & Oxton (possibly Woodchurch) from 1800-on > > > > > > > > Dave Greenly > [email protected] > (Please note my new address) > > > --------------------------------- > ALL-NEW Yahoo!
