Helen I imagine you were in Irby/Heswall later than me. My Mum & Dad had the Pensby Wine Stores from 1959 to 1975 when we moved away after my Dad retired early. This is close to the junction of Pensby Road and Whitfield Lane. The Harvest Mouse was built on the old transport yard (Roebucks) after we moved so I think you must have been there later. Hi Helen No you are getting confused with the Anchor Inn in Irby, which is at the T junction of Irby Road and Thingwall Road. The Irby Mill is on Mill Lane going towards Greasby and is at the junction of Hill Bark Road (leads to Royden Park) and Mill Lane itself. I live within two miles of it. Terry I should be living within half a mile of the Irby Mill, but the Vendor's Solicitor made one HUGE mistake, and the property was NOT available for sale, so we have had to rent an apartment in Hoylake whilst the problems are all sorted out! :-(> .... I have found my Taylor's on the 1891 and 1902 census and some birth records but am having trouble finding the death records for my Great Grandparents...William Thomas and Mary Ann or Mary A. or Marianne or Minnie Simpson Taylor. They were both born in Ireland either County Tyrone or Amargh but had a farm in Moy, Drumgrannon, Ireland, Tyrone before moving to Birkenhead, England. William in the 1891 census was a Railroad Carter. In the 1901 census they were in Seacombe and he was a Carter (leavm?). My Aunt gave me their dates as: William Thomas Taylor 21, July 1855 - 30, October 1928 Marianne Simpson Taylor 2, June 1856 - 23. September 1922 I spent an afternoon at the Birkenhead Library last fall searching for them in Birkenhead and found out much later they were in Seacombe in 1901. I can not find any records even close for them in Cheshire BMD's. I am going to be in London for a few days and if I could find out where they are buried I would get over somehow to Birkenhead area! Thanks for any help I can get Karen Glendora,CA

Hi Sandy, My grandfather was apprenticed to T Spark and I'm sure you saw this if you were following the lists this past weekend. I'm just wondering if you know what happened to: Thomas Sparke (sic) , painter, 35 Rose Mount, Oxton (from Kelly's directory 1896) When I checked the 1901 census, nothing came up and am wondering if he went off to war, like my grandfather, who is also not in the census. Or perhaps died? I realize there may be lots of SPARK(S) but as yours are in Bebington, I though there might be a connection. Thanks, Gay -----Original Message----- From: Sandy Stokes [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: October 17, 2004 10:11 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [BKHD-Wirral] Re: Roll Call - Spark(es), Fairclough Hi All, Make that 3 happy people, for SPARK is my interest as well. (I hope David will keep me posted.) I am also interested in the FAIRCLOUGH surname. My ggrandfather Henry Fairclough moved from Kirkham, Lancashire to Birkenhead in the mid 1800's. He was a Miller & Master Baker and also member of the Masonic Order. Henry's mother was a Singleton & I wonder if there might be some connection with the Singleton that I have seen mentioned as a flour dealer in Birkenhead as well.
