    2. > George CARSON, ca 1815 Liverpool. Possibly captained the "Louisa" to Newfoundland. Married into the Sparkes (s) family of Newfoundland 1846. May possibly be connected to Dr. William Carson born in KKD, Scotland who went to Nfld (Newfoundland). Dr. W's work there is very recognized in Newfoundland (previously in Birmingham, Eng). He had a brother James or John who was a physician around 1832 in Liverpool England. I would like to find out more about Dr. James as he is possibly my link to George. I found a George Edward Carson, joined war in 1915 living in Aintree. If I could find more about him as well this might be a connection I need. Also, someone tell me about Aintree, what churches, graveyards do I need to look at there? Thanks so much. Sharon Reid/Canada

My greatgrandfather, Josiah EASTMAN (b 1822 in Portsea, Hampshire) managed a Cocoa Rooms establishment in Chester St, Birkenhead -- this from the 1881 census. His wife Susannah (nee BASSETT, m 1844 in Stepney, London) was dead by this date. Cocoa Rooms were part of an extensive temperance movement of the time. His daughter, Sarah Louisa EASTMAN (b 1848, Islington, London) married my greatgrandfather, Thomas BURTON, in 1869 in Liverpool. Josiah also had a daughter, Esther Ann, who was 17 in 1881 and living with her father. Another EASTMAN, William (b1852, London, and probably Josiah's son) also operated a Cocoa Rooms on Price St, Birkenhead. William's wife was named Hannah and, in 1881, they had one daughter named Louisa. Any connection possible? 1. ADMIN Just a word
    2. Thanks to all who responded to the Roll call request! I'm delighted that so many of you have made connections, found new "cousins" and added new information to your research. Can I just request that listers do not include the word "Admin" in their subject line, only Admins should use this and it confuses people if the word is in the subject line of listers posts. Also can listers please change the subject line if the subject under discussion in the mail is not the same. This can lead to confusion for anyone doing a surname search in the archives, they are liable to bring up results that do not pertain to their enquiry. When replying to posts please do not quote huge amounts of previous mails, chop the quotes down to just the relevant details for your reply. Failure to do this leads to huge amounts of unnecessary script in the digests. Ta :-) Caryl List Admin

    3. This may sound incredibly lazy, but what the heck. I am looking at Saughall Massie and the inhabitants over the last two hundred years. Its mainly the farmers I am after, but seeing as it was such a small place I'm happy with anyone from the area. If anyone has scraps of information about their families and this area, I would love to hear from you. I want to see if I can map out where people were living over the years and what they were doing. this may just be the daftest project I have come up with because Saughall Massie is not exactly the centre of the universe, but I suppose I can be sure that no one else has done it for their Diploma!
