Please excuse the way I am sending this if it's not right. I am new to the list and did not find any instructions about how to post to a thread. If someone can help, I'd appreciate it. I was browsing the archives and noted that back in November 2000 there was a request for information about Virginia Rothwell Birdwell from Phyllis Hindenliter by way of Rose Birdwell. If the person who inquired is still interested, I know a little about her. She was Virginia Mae (or May) Rothwell, daughter of Tal F. Rothwell and ? Lee. (I don't know her mother's name - only knew her as Mimi - my friend's grandmother. ) My friend's mother was Virginia Mae's older sister, Elizabeth. My friend went to live with Virginia Mae & Mack when Elizabeth died about 1947-1949. The Rothwells were rich folks in Beaumont. Actually it was "Mimi" Lee Rothwell who was the rich one. Her father was Thomas P. Lee, of the Yount Lee Oil Company - one of the second boom Spindletop oil companies. Her sister Faustine married Glen McCarthy, the famous wildcatter. I don't know whether the Mann name is associated with the Lee line or the Rothwell line. I would expect the Beaumont genealogy library (The Tyrrell Historical Library, I think it is) has a good bit of information about the Rothwells and Lees as they were very well known. Virginia Mae was first married to ? Cowan. Don't know his name or what happened to that marriage, but they had two sons. Later she married Mack Birdwell (a some kind of cousin - but not close - of my father's) and they had a son and a daughter. If the person who inquired would like to contact me, I have a few more details but know nothing about any Manns in the family.
