Hi Rose & all--I have recently purchased the 1880 US Census - there are 712 Birdwell's mentioned in it. It goes back to Birdwell's born in 1795 (David) Sullivan, TN. I am going to be leaving on Oct. 1st for 2 weeks but after that if anyone wants me to check anything for them. Just email me and give me the name of person, either the age or date of birth and where born. I will need that since there are so many Birdwell's with the same first names. You find out who they were living with in 1880 & you can check out and see if there were any Birdwell's living close by. With David I found Jesse and Mary Birdwell and their children and Hariet Birdwell and her sister (Hariet born in 1809 is listed as B for black but born in TN). I have also found 3 sisters: Elizabeth born 1798; Jane born 1806; Nancy born 1807, children of Benjamin. I also found a Benjamin born in 1803 and his children and Reuel and Harriet C Birdwell and their children as the 3 sister's neighbors. Velma
