I'm replying to the message from Wuudcrvr@aol.com about proof that John Birdwell was a son of James G. Birdwell (1795-1849). I have the proof. When my ancestor Camilla Birdwell, a known daughter of James, married Ezekiel S. Green in Pointe Coupee Psh., LA, on 2 Jan. 1853, John signed the family permission notice allowing Camilla to marry (she was 19 at the time). The notice identifies John as her brother. By this time, John and Camilla's parents James and Alitha Leonard Birdwell had both died--hence John acted as the family representative. I'll gladly share information on this line with you.
