Engagement announcement from "The Mesquite News," Thursday, May 10, 2001: Larry and Sandra Birdwell of Seminole, OK, announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa LuEllen Birdwell, to William Kyle Bennett. Mr. Bennett is the son of Bill and Pat Bennett of Mesquite. The wedding is set for Saturday, May 26, 2001, at which time these two high school sweethearts and best friends will commit their lives to each other in marriage. Miss Birdwell is a teacher of mathematics at Agnew Middle School in Mesquite. She is also working toward a higher degree in mathematics and science. She is the granddaughter of James and Ellen Childers and Elmore and Lucille Birdwell. Mr. Bennett is a student at Texas A&M at Commerce and expects to receive his degree in Construction Engineering next December. This could be from the William Gertrude Birdwell family. He moved to Oklahoma from Palo Pinto County. I have been in contact with one of the descendants and she sent me a file on the children.
