Rose - Here is the answer to your earlier question about Serena. I'll post it to the group in case someone wants to discuss it. There were two Serena Birdwells living in Jackson County at the same time and the same age (why not, huh ??) (1) Serena who was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Chaffin Birdwell - She was born abt 1838 ... It has been reported that she was married to a J.W. Young .... I think she was married to a Joseph Jones (who was much older than her) as his second wife - Check out the 1870 Census of Jackson County ... To begin with, you won't find Serena Birdwell living at home with her parents - but you will find Joseph Jones and his children from his first marriage to a woman named Parthenia and Serena and a baby girl under one year old (Sarah E.) (2) Serena who was the daughter of George W. and Lucinda - She was born abt 1839 - I think this is the Serena Birdwell who married J. W. Young in Jackson County on 11 May 1873 ... I have not checked the 1880 census on this family yet. Just about all of this George W. Birdwell's children were still living at home during the 1870 census - Joseph C. (this must be where someone came up with a middle initial for a "Joseph" ??) born 1837 - Serena born 1839 - Mary Ann born 1844 - John B. born 1846 - George W. born 1848 - James born 1850 and Amanda born 1852 ... Son William born 1835 was married and living next door with his wife ... Daughter Margaret born 1841 - I have not located yet. Jerry
