Hey Gang, my son found this on the internet, and thought that we would be interested in it. Nasa made 2 sets of microchips with a million names on it, and sent it into space on 7 February 1999. One set will return to earth in 2006, the other will be in space forever. Below is the URL and a list of the Birdwells that are on the chips. No other information is given about these people. Have a great day Rose BTW, there are new pictures listed in the Articles section. I know that this is a busy time of the year for all of us, but I'm hoping that after the holidays, we can all get back into our genealogy http://stardust.jpl.nasa.gov/microchip/index.html MICHAEL DEL BIRDWELL (CPT/ARMY) GEORGE ALFRED BIRDWELL (SP4/ARMY) BIRDWELL ALEX J. It comes from all over the USA and has not been verified by this writer. I collect everthing i find on Birdwell's. Use it with caution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It may help someone to find about others by useing this as clues for research when nothing else is there. I will adding by first names-A-Z. Hope this helps in some small way. If you find the same names more than once it is because one record may have more info than others.

I don't have this book, but saw this description on the Internet and it mentioned Birdwells. Putnam County, Tennessee Bible, Family & Tombstone Records Compiled by WPA Workers 154 Total Pages, Oversized: 8.5"x11" Full Name Index Mint Condition, Softcover Gathered by WPA Workers in the 1930s, the records found in this 8.5"x11" oversized publication may well contain the 'missing link' you are desperately searching for. Packed with bible, family, and tombstone records, it's a virtual genealogical goldmine for Putnam County, Tennessee descendants. Although the records are now scattered between the State Archives, various Public and Private Libraries and other collections, this volume contains all available data. During the Great Depression in the early 1900s, many Americans were given a "job" by the United States Government to support their family. One such "job" was transcribing early court, family, Bible, and cemetery records as well as other local records. Original versions were typed on onion skin paper with "x" number of carbon copies. Although the State Archives owns the vast majority of 'first' or typed copy, carbons have circulated for years but are now scattered. Often the typing is not the best and is difficult to read but these valuable records still constitute one of the best sources of information for Tennessee Counties. Hi Rose--I finally had my old web page updated with new information that i had put in the genealogy in my family trees . You can see it at either of the 2 following: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Cyprus/6027/ http://www.geocities.com/tootsie1.geo/ enter either one and the web page will come on showing the 6 family trees I have done. Click on any of the surnames you want to see & then click on genealogy report for that one and that genealogy report will come on. I have also had printed copies of all of my family trees with pictures, news clippings and vital statistics that I will be giving to my family for Christmas. It was quite a project but I really enjoyed it. I did not put pictures in my web sites except for their web page. It would take up too much room on my hard drive. Velma
1809 Census of Madison County, Alabama - Enumeration taken Jan 1809 (It was then Madison County, Mississippi Territory) Submitted by the Tennessee Valley Genealogical Society http://hiwaay.net/~white/TVGS/tvgs.html WebArchivist: Richard White, [email protected] http://hiwaay.net/~white/TVGS/1809mad.txt This 1809 census includes John Birdwell (married Mary Allen). Information is available on the website for descendants (who can prove descent from John Birdwell or others on the census or on other early records) to apply for "First Families of the Tennessee Valley" designation. Descendants of other residents before 1826 qualify for "Pioneers of the Tenn. Valley" status, if anyone is interested. They give you a certificate with your ancestor's name. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. This same 1809 Madison County Alabama (MS Territory) Census lists Henry Landers. Has anyone uncovered any new evidence that Henry's wife Mary "Polly" was a Birdwell?? If you have, please share it with me. Chuck Landers [email protected]
Phyllis Hindenliter might check with Barbara Mann or Weldon Birdwell for information on the Mann line in the Eliza Jane Birdwell line. The daughter of Eliza Jane Birdwell Sarah Johanna Clifford married Silas Cooper Mann. Both Barbara and Weldon might have done some research on the Mann line. The e-mail addresses for them are: Weldon Birdwell [email protected] Barbara and Carl Mann [email protected] Effie
I received a couple of letters from Phyllis Hinderliter, asking about this Virginia. Does anyone have an help for her? Rothwell was her maiden name. She died after 1949 and is listed in her father's obit as Mrs. Mack Birdwell. Her mother's maiden name was Lee and her grandmother's maiden name was Mann. I am researching the Mann line. My grandfather was living with the Rothwells when he died in 1939. I am really pulling at straws. The Mann line (at least mine) is very elusive. I have been able to find some connecting pieces by researching the Rothwells and decided not to let any stones unturned. Thanks again for any help you can give. Note: She was from Beaumont, Jefferson Co., Texas I can't send you Phyllis' email, since it only shows up as her name on my email, so if anyone has any help, would you post it to the list. Hey Gang, I got some pictures from Barbara Mann today, so have posted them in Articles, under Just Pictures and Tombstones. The Callahan Co. Tombstone pictures were sent to Barbara via Ralph Cummings, from Baird, Callahan Co., Texas. Thank you so much to both of them! Sorry for the long delay in adding files to BT, my Family Tree Maker crashed, and am still trying to get all the files restored. Thank Goodness for plenty of backups. Hey Gang, I got this letter from Effie, and thought that it was a good one to pass on to all of you. I checked thru all of my documents, and Effie is right, none of them say "Washington" when pertaining to this George. Thank you, Effie, for clearing up this matter for us.
