    1. Reply to rose (Birdwell)
    2. Rose: Appreciate your immediate response. I have since found out that H.L. (Buster) Birdwell, Sr. and his wife Callie are both deceased and are buried in Lubbock Texas. I will need to find one of their children to get the information I need. Here is all I have on them. Gene Birdwell is approximately 65 years old, His brother Howard Lee Birdwell, Jr. is appx. 57/60 years old. I think Howard retired from the US Navy with a Lt. Commander or full Commander rank. Lessie should be appx. 60-years old and Janice appx. 53/55 years old. (their married names unknown) I know Lessie and Janice both moved to Beauford with their parents. Howard was in the Navy and Gene stayed in Lubbock (I think) It's a needle in a haystack but I thought I would give it a spin. Thanks (((BUD)))

    3. Hey Gang, I'm home again, so it's back to work!! I found at the library in Broken Bow, OK, the following: LeFlore Co., OK Marr Vol II Indian Territory 1901-1904 >From the Poteau Valley Gen. Birdwell, age 25 (c 1877) m Eve Phillips, age 21 (c 1881) on 12 March 1902 I have none of these people in my database, so if any of you out there that have access to Oklahoma census, would you please look them up for us, and try and trace their family back at least to the 1880 census. We would all appreciate it. Also, I have the picture of Russell Birdwell, movie mogul, b in Texas in 1903, d in California in 1977. There is also a few paragraphs about him, all taken from "Texas Monthly", March 2000, sent to me by Barbra Alexander. If any of you want the pic and article, please let me know, and I'll send it to you. Thank you, Linda, for your letter. If anyone has access to any of the magazines that Linda has listed, would you please look up the articles that she has mentioned, and post them to the Gang. Again, with lots of appreciation. 1. John (c1795)
    2. Hello Again, The Giles Co, TN census proves that James (1822) was not a son of Joseph R. Birdwell (c1800). So whose son was he ? I believe that he was the son of the John Birdwell (c1795) shown in Giles Co, TN in 1840 and thereafter. This is NOT Proven. But I believe that the John Birdwell found in Madison Co, Alabama in 1830 is the same John M. Birdwell found in Giles Co, Tennessee in 1840. Compare the census data below and it sure looks like the same family. There was just one child listed in 1830 who is not shown with John (c1795) in 1840. I believe this was James Birdwell (1822). In addition to John (c1795) & Joseph R. (c1800), James Birdwell was also listed in his own household on the 1840 census in Giles Co, Tennessee. So with James (1822) you have the complete family which was shown with John Birdwell (c1795) on the 1830 census. Note that James was the same age as the child missing from John's 1830 family. James was not Joseph R.'s son. It is not proven whose son he was, yet I believe the census data points squarely at John Birdwell (c1795). I would welcome any comments either for or against this belief. Weldon J. Birdwell P.S. 1. Joseph R. (c1800)
    2. Hello Folks: I have a correction on the list of children for Joseph R. Birdwell (c1800). James Birdwell (1822) was not his son. If someone has evidence to the contrary, please inform me. Otherwise I believe the Giles Co, Tennessee census records prove that James (1822) is not Joseph's son. 1) In 1830, Joseph R. Birdwell has only one son. This boy was born between 1825 & 1830. 2) In 1840, he still shows this same boy born between 1825 & 1830. 3) Yet this same 1840 census has James Birdwell (1822) listed in his own home with a spouse. This proves that James (1822) was not the son of Joseph R. Birdwell (c1800). I’ve included the census data for Joseph R. Birdwell below. These show his children’s names in 1850 & 1860. The 1830 & 1840 census does not provide names, but I’ve included my Guesses at the identity of his children in those years. These are not proven, yet appear to match up quite well. I have the following information from Linda Baker on 3-15-99 stating that Joseph Abraham's daughter Cansada Maud m. to Wm. Monroe Baker was her gr.mother and that Joseph Abraham is the son of John not Joseph Robert "Joel" and that wife #2, Susan King, and he were married for 1 mo. when he filed for divorce in Collin Co.
