Hello again everyone, I just wanted to pass this information to you. John Rigdon, used to be connected with GenWeb, I believe he is no longer. I did discover that he was subscribed to our BIRD list, but I have unsubscribed him, as many other list owners are doing. It seems that he is selling the messages that are posted to the lists. I do not want him to profit by what my subscribers are posting, when we are all here to help one another, for free. (Sometimes costs of copying and postage). The list is to help one another when we can, possibly find new "cousins" and to further genealogy. We had enough with GenForum, we don't need another one. I have not check his web site yet, but I will this morning. Hope this information is of some help.. Sharon Straight [email protected] List Owner DRUMM. Below is one of his innocuous posts peddling his wares to unsuspecting researchers under the disguise of the USGenWeb Project Archives: ------------------- Date: Wed, 13 Aug 1997 22:11:29 EDT From: John C Rigdon <[email protected]> Subject: GA and SC Archives Files Now Indexed I have now completed the indexing of the files in the USGenWeb Project Archives for GA and SC. You can now search these files by choosing the NEW FILES INDEXED THIS MONTH option to search. Selecting this option only, and leaving the GIWWW index unselected will search these new files only. The GA and SC archives represent over 18,000 names in almost 50 files.
