Hi: I am looking for information about the family of John Dennis (June 1853) and his wife Rachel (?) born May 1858, both in PA. Their children according to the 1900 Census Soundex were: George April 1879 Susie April 1882 Alice December 1885 Ora September 1887 John May 1892 Bertha January 1895 Rachel April 1897 I believe that Rachel married Leonard Bird and raised her family in Scranton. My confusion arises from Rachel's obit which names her mother as Elizabeth Shear. It might be that the mother, Rachel's, middle or first name is Elizabeth? I would also like to know where people in Avoca buried their friends and relateives in the late 1800's and early 1900's.
